Generative AI in workplace - the 4th Industrial Revolution

Thanks to the recent leaps in AI technology, the times we are currently living in have been referred to as "the 4th Industrial Revolution". As with previous industrial revolutions, this transformative period is expected to bring about changes in the labour landscape. Inevitably, this has prompted increased attention (and perhaps apprehension) regarding the impact of job roles traditionally carried out by humans. These changes encompass shifts in skill requirements, the potential reduction of certain job roles, and opportunities for businesses to leverage new AI systems.

In this session, employment lawyers Catherine Leung and Jezamine Fewins will focus on the use of Generative AI in the workplace and explore the types of employment issues that have emerged as a result. They will also examine the implications of using Generative AI tools from a data privacy and intellectual property perspective. The session will cover both the benefits and challenges associated with employees using Generative AI tools and delve into the types of policies that companies should consider implementing to equip themselves for the future of work.
