Managing the female talent pipeline in Hong Kong – why is gender diversity not seen as a business priority in the SAR?

Hong Kong’s Female Talent Pipeline Study lays bare the stark reality we face in Hong Kong – we suffer from a major blockage in the talent pipeline at the senior level stage and above.  Companies can expect to lose on average 24% of their female employees across the talent pipeline (from 53% average total workforce representation to just 29% female representation at Hong Kong senior management level).

The study comprises of three parts - combining data from Hong Kong companies, insights from Hong Kong business leaders and sentiments from women of all ages in Hong Kong. The result is an overview of the real female talent pipeline in Hong Kong across industries.  As the numbers show, women in droves fall out of the workforce at the mid-level, due to many reasons (incl. societal expectations of family management, lack of opportunities, male dominated work cultures) resulting in a huge dearth of senior talent.  Clearly things need to change. If we continue the same pattern, we will end up with the same result. Now is the time to take action.

Join us at this event as The University of Hong Kong and Meraki Executive Search & Consulting share the top-line insights from the study and a distinguished panel of speakers debate how to tackle the systemic bias that exists in Hong Kong.  We will explore what can be done to improve the female participation rate and create cultures of inclusion.
