Directors Of The Year Awards 2019 - Embracing Innovation for Sustainable Growth

Directors Of The Year Awards were first launched in 2001 as the first ever such Awards organised in Asia, organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors. The project has now become an annual project of impact in the community organised by the Institute together with over 90 Project Partners. To date, 189 Awardees have been recognised for their achievements in demonstrating exemplary high standards in corporate governance.

Nominations of candidates are open to the public and are processed in a well-defined and stringent set of procedures. Awards are presented by company categories, viz Listed Companies, Private Companies and Non-profit-distributing Organisations, and by capacities, viz Executive Directors, Non-Executive Directors and Boards.

Belt and Road Summit 2019

The fourth edition of the Belt and Road Summit jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council will be held on 11-12 September 2019 in Hong Kong.

The Women’s Development Programme – HKU and Meraki

The University of Hong Kong, Faculty of Business and Economics in partnership with Meraki Executive Search & Consulting, have launched a new programme to enable organisations to develop, retain and motivate their high-potential female talent. As an extension of the Women’s Directorship Programme (board governance programme), the new Women’s Development Programme serves to support female executives during the transition from mid to senior management positions. 

As a recent study shows, mid to senior level management is when most female executives are at risk of leaving the workforce, resulting in companies losing vast amounts of experience, insights and potential. The Women’s Development Programme provides tools to enable women to manage multiple competing priorities at work and home, ensuring they are best positioned for success.  The programme serves to inspire, engage and open up new networks to support women as they advance in their careers.

The six-day programme kicks off in September and includes teaching modules such as: Strategic Leadership, Negotiation and Collaboration, Strategies for Future Business, Persuasive Communication, Managing Your Ecosystem, Ethics and Compliance.  The programme is also supported by a number of senior female role models as guest speakers.
