The China Insider Series, sponsored by HSBC, and headed by the China Committee, looks at business issues affecting China and Hong Kong. From UK-China/Hong Kong trade relations to economic growth through expanding industries in technology, infrastructure and e-commerce, this series will discuss the challenges and opportunities with a developing China economy.

 

The Innovation & Technology series is the Chamber’s platform and sharing forum for IT professionals in Hong Kong looking to keep up with the latest trends, best practices and most importantly to hear practical tips on how to help grow their business. Some of the areas of discussion will include Technology Compliance for regulated industries, practicalities and benefits for de-centralised organisations, advances in hardware and software for business purposes, as well as data protection and cross-boundary issues. The Retail & Consumer Series will explore some of the major issues affecting the retail and consumer sector such as the challenges of luxury retail, practical advice on how to break into China, taxation, data analytics, reputational risk and customer experience. 

The Business Angel Programme, launched in late 2007, was the first such initiative to be launched in Hong Kong by any of the Chambers of commerce. The Programme, sponsored by Baker Tilly Hong Kong, runs three events every year which allows shortlisted candidates to present their business plans in front of a panel of investors, and enjoy the opportunity to network and make valuable contacts. How can Hong Kong and the UK join forces on the journey to net zero?

The UK is dedicated to the net zero emissions targets ambition and sees huge opportunity for closer UK-Hong Kong collaboration, as the city works towards the target of reducing 65% to 70% carbon intensity by 2030 from the 2005 level.

In the lead up to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in November, the GREAT For A Sustainable Future series will address the key topics that play a significant role on the road to carbon neutrality. In partnership with the UK’s Department for International Trade in Hong Kong (DIT), this four-part series will cover the future of food, energy transition, logistics and transport, and green finance.

Each event will welcome a panel of leading experts in their field to provide insights and key action points that will encourage businesses to invest in a clean and resilient recovery plan that delivers for people and the planet.

 

 

Supported by the Future Leaders Committee, the Environment & Energy Committee and the Real Estate Committee, the Future Living Hackathon Series explores future living topics in Hong Kong, notably; environment, mobility & connectivity, spatial planning, economy and society. A series of hackathon-style competitions will be held, attracting passionate young people in Hong Kong to express their views on the potential improvements and solutions for these topic areas. The ideas will be evaluated by judging panels of mentors, industry experts and entrepreneurs, for their feasibility and innovation, with the overall aspiration of the competitions to inspire new business ideas within the ecosystem and importantly, among the young people of Hong Kong.

In partnership with EY, this series seeks to be a catalyst for discussion in Hong Kong and will bring together a diverse group of people to celebrate the women in our community driving sustainable business practice through diversity and inclusion.
