Innovation & Technology Committee

The Committee comprises Chamber IT senior members representing large corporates, e-businesses, telecommunications companies, a cross section of SME representatives and specialist support services groups such as legal and compliance, Human Resources and IT related consulting firms.

The Committee reviews development and Government policies that affect business in Hong Kong and the region and provide advice and information to the Chamber and input to Government as appropriate; reviews levels of ICT infrastructure, facilities, development and investment required for business growth in Hong Kong, in particular to maintain Hong Kong as a preferred world-class information technology/content and trading hub; assesses Hong Kong’s attractiveness and ability to grow key technology enabled businesses and services relationships in the region; and finally, educates the Chamber membership regarding the use of new and emerging business information, telecommunication and broadcasting technology products and services in Hong Kong.

He then spent 10 years as an investment analyst for Barclays De Zoete & Wedd, Société Générale, and CLSA before leaving to found EFA in 2003, of which he is now Chairman. Iain’s role as Chairman includes acting as a brand ambassador, overseeing the financial and legal functions as well as the Consulting Services division, and business development for the group. He is currently working to diversify the group’s product range, focusing on EFAdrin. He is a member of the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, sitting on the Financial Markets, IT and SME committees and the Vice Chairman of the Angel Committee, a programme which connects entrepreneurs with angel investors in Hong Kong. Roy has advised both public and private sector clients on a wide range of infrastructure and innovation and technology (I&T) development projects including large-scale development projects, science parks & industrial estates, transportation facilities, and tourism and commercial facilities. Roy is very familiar with the development of the I&T industry in Hong Kong. Currently, he is advising the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation (HKSTPC) on its development strategy and implementation approach of digital infrastructure in Hong Kong. In addition, he has extensive knowledge and expertise in the Northern Metropolis Development Strategy (NMDS) and has provided his recommendation to the Hong Kong Government and other public organisations on their positioning and development strategies on the Northern Metropolis.
